Why it is hard
What makes Fintech software different Six things we plan for on every fintech project, before a single screen is designed.
Regulators read everything
KYC, AML, audit trails and data residency are requirements, not features. Every decision the system makes needs a record of why.
What we actually do
Every automated decision stored with its inputs and rule version Role-based access with four-eyes approval on sensitive actions Evidence collected for SOC 2 and PCI as we build
It has to reconcile exactly
A rounding error or a duplicated webhook is not a small bug. Ledgers must balance and every transaction must be traceable.
What we actually do
Money stored as integers in a double-entry ledger, never floats Idempotent payment handling, so a retried webhook never pays twice Automatic daily reconciliation with an exceptions queue
Trust is lost once
Users forgive a slow page. They do not forgive a wrong balance or a security incident.
What we actually do
Security review and penetration test before launch Clear, human messages when anything is delayed Full audit history users and support can both see
Onboarding that loses good customers
KYC that asks for too much, too early, loses customers before their first transaction.
What we actually do
Tiered KYC that only asks for more as limits rise ID and liveness checks through providers like Onfido or Persona Drop-off tracked at every onboarding step
Fraud that adapts faster than rules
Fraud patterns change weekly. Fixed rules either miss new attacks or block real customers.
What we actually do
Risk scoring on device, velocity and behaviour Manual review queue for borderline cases Rules tuned weekly from false-positive data
Reconciliation done in spreadsheets
Matching bank, processor and ledger records by hand delays month-end and hides errors.
What we actually do
Automated daily match across bank, processor and ledger Breaks flagged with the exact mismatch Double-entry ledger with an unchangeable history

Problems we solve
Real problems, and what we built The kind of day-to-day problems fintech teams bring to us, and how we typically solve them.
Bank statements were matched to the ledger by hand in spreadsheets, line by line, every month.
Automated reconciliation that pulls bank feeds daily, matches transactions by amount, date and reference, and puts only the exceptions in a review queue.
Month-end closes in days instead of a week, and the team only looks at the items that genuinely do not match.
Open banking APIs Matching rules Double-entry ledger
Identity checks were done by hand from uploaded documents, so approval took days and many applicants never came back.
Automated ID and liveness checks with a risk score, so most applicants are approved in minutes and only flagged cases go to a person.
Faster approvals, a complete audit trail for every decision, and compliance staff focused on the cases that matter.
KYC provider Risk rules Case management
Each country had different tax rules and invoice formats, handled with templates and manual checks.
An invoicing engine that applies the right VAT or GST rules per customer and produces compliant invoices and e-invoices.
Invoices go out right the first time, in every market, without a spreadsheet of tax rates.
Tax rules engine E-invoicing formats Multi-currency
Weekly KPIs were assembled by hand from four systems, so decisions were made on old data.
A data pipeline into a warehouse with a live dashboard for revenue, risk and operations.
Leaders see today’s numbers today, and the finance team no longer builds the same report every Monday.
